They evicted those families because they have NRM govt support. Actually the people named are connected to top NRM people. Haji Habib Kagimu is now married to Dr Speciosa Wandira Kazibwe, the former VP. He is also Qaddafi's pointman in Uganda. The late who bought it from him was equally connected to NRM and so is the super crook who just bought.
Funny thing, NRM talks tough but condones such evictions because it gets kitu kikubwa. I hear the govt created a land police, what for?
But the real issue is that as long as people can grab or be allocated land by the Govt and pay no capital gains from their kill, land speculation will continue. That is who the rich is Ugandan are getting richer: land speculation. Many are evicted to benefit a few if that helps NRM coffers. To be sure even some opposition people tooespecially FDC people have benefited from land grabing, ok, illegal land acquisitive. Go figure about this change nonsense they peddle. It is same old.
o my understanding, Museveni has messed up the Treasury, Bank of Uganda, National Budget and our entire national Economy, I really doubt if Museveni has a Degree in Economics!!! I also got to learn about a hotel on Entebbe road called J&M at Bwebajja which of recent has been turned into a university.
The hotel sits on hundreds of acres. This hotel has been getting hefty concessions and funds from the Government. It is the same hotel which got funds to construct hotel rooms within days to the hosting of the conference. It pocketed the money although it never hosted any guest. The front man disguised as the owner (R.I.P) Mr. Behakanira was summoned to appear before the CHOGM probe committee of Parliament to answer to the charges, a health man died mysteriously within less than a week before he could reappear again.
Now on part of that land Bassajjabalaba is constructing a housing estate just adjacent to the hotel which has been turned into a University. Each house unit is being sold at approximately UG sh800 millions. I hear that at the end of the project they will be 250 units. Guys (J&M hotel is locally referred to as Janet & Museveni by residents).
J&M are great thugs; that's a lot of money! They should document where that money is coming from! For the last 25 Year no hospital has been constructed and these guys are in trillion deals! We need to be clear on this thuggery!! Why even blame only Bukenya when they are in the same boat!!! If am wrong put me right but this is not fair at all for our poor nation!! It’s Terrible
